UK heatwave likely, with warm air boosted by weather conditions from Europe
Much of the UK will be in heatwave conditions by the coming weekend says the Met Office.

After a locally grey and misty start, most areas will have a fine day with some very warm sunshine. However, the north and west of Scotland and western parts of Northern Ireland will be breezy with some patchy rain.
Wet and windy weather will move southeast across Scotland and Northern Ireland overnight. Rain will ease as it reaches northwest England and northwest Wales later. Fine with clear spells elsewhere.
Patchy rain will affect northern England and the north and west of Wales. Dry further southeast with some very warm sunshine. Breezy with bright spells and showers to the north.
Most places look dry with increasingly warm or hot sunshine. However, patchy rain is likely in the north on Wednesday, with a few showers in the west and northwest thereafter.

The wettest and windiest conditions are expected in the northwest, with rain at times which may be heavy in places. It will likely be very warm or perhaps hot at first in the north, quickly becoming near normal or slightly above. More settled in the southeast with conditions drier overall, although some rain will probably spread from the west or northwest at times. There is also the risk that isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms could develop at times. Temperatures are expected to be above normal, perhaps with some hot spells.
